Merchantville Car Show & Sock Hop Details
Hoola-hoop contests and twistin' in the street...

Street entertainers - magicians, DJ's, live bands and a Center Stage show with Live Elvis Impersonator, Mark Reno - entertain the crowd.  You can get information or assistance from any of the many volunteer staff members that can be found all over town - just look for the Car Show T-Shirts.

This show is run by volunteers full of civic pride and a love for vintage automobiles and rock and roll.  The goal is to provide a fun, safe day for the family in a beautiful historic New Jersey community.

To provide for the safety of the family, show rules include no open alcohol, no boom boxes and bicycles, scooters, skateboards and rollerblades are restricted from the show grounds.  These rules will be enforced.  Safety - and protection of your investment - are our key concerns.

Over 800 cars last year...

This event has seen significant growth over the past 10 years.  Originally started as a local day of fun for families in Merchantville and the surrounding communities, it has grown to the point that the festivities now draw participants from over 9 states and fill up most of the major parks and thouroughfares throughout the town center.  All proceeds from the event benefit Main Street Merchantville, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the enrichment of the downtown area.

The day is comprised of a large car show that features cars, trucks, motorcycles, vintage bicycles - virtually anything with wheels - with various family-oriented activities throughout the late afternoon and evening.  The major streets through town - Park Avenue, Chestnut Avenue and Centre Street are closed to traffic and participating vehicles are displayed on the roads and in parking lots along these streets.  Food from among the best local establishments as well as automotive novelty vendors are located along the show route and in the town center park near the old train station.
