Merchantville Car Show & Sock Hop Details

After a year hiatus, back by popular demand is the 12th annual Merchantville Car Show.  This event has seen significant growth over the past 12 years to over 800 cars.  Originally started as a local day of fun for families in Merchantville and the surrounding communities, it has grown to the point that the festivities now draw participants from over 9 states and fill up most of the major parks and thoroughfares throughout the town center.  All proceeds from the event benefit the Merchantville Task Force, a non-profit organization dedicated to the enrichment of the downtown area.

2004collageThe day is comprised of a large car show that features cars, trucks, motorcycles, vintage bicycles – virtually anything with wheels – with various family-oriented activities throughout the late afternoon and evening.  The major streets through town – Park Avenue, Chestnut Avenue, and Centre Street are closed to traffic and participating vehicles are displayed on the roads and parking lots along these streets.  Food from among the best local establishments as well as automotive novelty vendors are located along the show route and in the town center park near the old train station.

Hula-hoop contests, twisting in the street, and a Family Fun area…..

Street entertainers – magicians, DJ’s, live bands, and a Center State show with Elvis Impersonator “Mark Reno” – entertain the crowd.

Hundreds of local town volunteers provide information and assistance!  Just look for people in the Car Show T-Shirts.

To provide for the safety of the family, show rules include:

NO OPEN ALCOHOL
NO BOOM BOXES
NO Bicycles, Scooters, Skateboards and Rollerblades on the Show Grounds

These rules will be enforced as safety and protection of the valuable investments on display are our key concerns.
